Instead of typical landscaping, we let the land produce food as it has done for centuries. We’ve planted the entire property with arugula, lettuce, dandelion, bitter gourd, okra, herbs, and more — plus traditional rice paddies. All of it is homegrown and biodynamic: Marigolds ward off pests, and nature (namely, the ducks and our own two cows, Bambu and Indah) does the fertilizing. We hatch our own eggs and are beginning to grow our own mushrooms. Our trees produce coconuts, mangoes, and other tropical fruits.
